What to Put in a Creator Media Kit (Free Template)
A media kit isn't a portfolio. Nobody's reading it end to end — a brand marketer opens it, scans for three or four numbers, and decides whether to keep reading your pitch. Optimize for the skim, not for completeness.
What actually needs to be on it
- Name, tagline, niche, location. One line each. The tagline is the thing that tells a brand what you make in five words — "tech reviews for indie hackers," not "content creator and storyteller."
- Platform stats — with engagement, not just followers. Follower count alone is a vanity metric brands are increasingly discounting. A 40K-follower account with 6% engagement outperforms a 200K account with 0.8%. List both, per platform.
- Total reach. One number that sums your audience across every platform, at the top. It's the first thing a brand's eyes go to.
- A short bio. Two or three sentences on what you make and who's watching. Not your life story — brands are checking fit, fast.
- Past brand collabs. Even two or three is social proof. "Sponsored video, 40K views" tells a brand you've done this before and know what a deliverable looks like.
- Rates, or a clear note that they're available on request. Leaving this blank with no note reads as unfinished. Say something, even if it's just "rates available on request."
- Contact info. Obvious, but it's the single most common omission — a beautiful media kit with no email is a dead end.
What gets a media kit ignored
Stale numbers. A media kit with a follower count from six months ago undersells you, or worse, gets caught in a discrepancy when the brand checks your profile directly. Update it before every pitch round, not once a year.
Vague niche. "Lifestyle" tells a brand nothing. "Budget home cooking for people who hate meal prep" tells them exactly whether their product fits.
No ask. A media kit that doesn't end with what you want — a paid post, a gifted collab, an intro call — leaves the brand to guess your next step. Say it.
Length. One page. Two if you have a lot of platforms. A media kit brands have to scroll through multiple times is a media kit that gets closed.
